It struck me why we Republicans are right to be so upset about the IRS and applications for tax exempt status under IRC 501(c)(4). It stems from the fact that the law is so UNFAIR! It is progressively biased!
Yes, yes, we all know that the law says that any money spent by such exempt organizations must be spent "exclusively" on social welfare activities, not partisan political activities, and that the IRS has properly interpreted "exclusively" as meaning "primarily."
But that's just it! Why would we need such a necessary reinterpretation of an annoyingly clear word like "exclusively?"
Isn't it obvious?
Its because, let's be frank here, we Republicans don't do social welfare well, if at all. We don't believe in it. We don't like it. We don't support it. So how are we going to get tax exempt status for our social welfare political activities if the law is interpreted literally?
I mean, it is so easy for progressive groups to establish social welfare groups. Its what they live for, literally. They want to help the poor. They want to help the old. And the sick. And clean up the environment. And improve education. This list goes on and on, dammit. It is so unfair to Republicans that it is so easy for Democrats to fool the IRS into letting them have tax exempt status for their bogus social welfare groups that are really just engaging in political activities.
We all know unions exist solely to fund Democratic political campaigns. The same goes for environmental groups. And groups trying to help immigrants who are just going to vote for Democrats if, God forbid, they ever become citizens! It's a vast conspiracy and they are getting tax breaks to do it! It is wrong and we need to do something about it!
Which is why I am establishing my own social welfare organization, and will apply for tax exempt status under 501(c)(4), for the purposes of educating the public about the need for Republicans to have tax exempt status for their political social welfare groups, so they can continue their good work keeping taxes low, and fighting the War against the War on Christmas (TM), and fighting for the right for our children to be killed by guns, and fighting godless socialism and immigration reform and healthcare reform, and hell, every other kind of reform.
So, who is with me? I need to raise at least $2 million, I think, to get started; $1 million to pay my first month's salary, plus $500k to my wife, and $250k to each of my kids, tax exempt, so we can turn off our TVs, and get off our couches, and get out there and set up a bone fide (wink wink), grass roots campaign to bring this important God-supported word to the people! I need your support!
