Hmm, is it too soon to start using the terms "domestic terrorism"? This appears to be a case of right wing domestic terrorism - ricin letters sent to the biggest nemesis of America's population of gun fetishists, Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York City.
Some Details
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was sent an anonymous threatening letter that preliminary tests indicated contained the presence of the poison ricin, law enforcement officials told NBC News.
A similar letter, which early tests indicated contained ricin, was also sent to the director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, in Washington, D.C.
In both letters, the writer made threatening comments about Bloomberg’s support for gun control, NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Public information Paul Browne said. The letter to Bloomberg was opened on Sunday, and the letter in Washington was opened on Friday.
The alleged source is from Shreveport, Louisiana, and according to officials, the letters were sent May 20th.
Of course, this action couldn't possibly be connected to the right's demonization of Michael Bloomberg and what they call his "gun grabbing nanny state," now could it?
I don't know, let's ask the Traditional Values Coalition what they think.
Anyway, is it to soon to term this right wing domestic terrorism? It sure looks like it.
UPDATE: According to a report in USA Today, the ricin letter to Bloomberg contained the following message.
"You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns. Anyone wants to come to my house will get shot in the face. The right to bear arms is my constitutional God-given right and I will exercise that right till the day I die."
The report also says that such letters were sent to Obama.
When can we expect the NRA, the GOP and Fox News to denounce this form of domestic terrorism?
