The Lady Washington (a replica of the cargo ship refitted in Boston in 1787 and which was the first vessel flying the American flag to land in the Pacific Northwest in 1788) and another sailing vessel, the Hawaiian Chieftain (a modern interpretation of a nineteenth century trading vessel), are operated by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority. Throughout the Pacific Northwest these two vessels offer excursions, including a re-creation of a sea battle complete with cannon fire. Below are photographs of a recent battle on the Columbia River taken from the Lady Washington.
