Around half of all Americans, including many Kossacks, are stockholders. If you are, you have three ways to help save America from the surveillance state.
Why? The surveillance state endangers your investments. If you have stock in one of those companies that voluntarily secretly cooperate with Federal spying, remember: At some point, the rules may change. When they do, that cooperation may become a massive financial liability for your firm and its stock.
#1) (And this needs coherent organization, as FlushRush has shown): Sponsor a stockholder question banning voluntary cooperation. If Federal spies want information, tell them to appear with a warrant.
#2) If your company cooperated, wait until the next Board of Directors election. Take your proxy and JUST VOTE NO! against every board member.
#3) Support insurgent Board of Director candidates who promise to oppose warrantless Federal Spying.
Be sure to write your company's board of directors, telling them what you are doing.
However, on two of these points you need organization:
#1) Stockholders may submit questions, but the desirable path is that there is one question for each company, that it is well-drafted, and that everyone knows what it is.
#3) There is a complicated path for board replacement. Technical experts here can describe the issues.
