Two hours ago, Mark Zuckerberg posted his furious response to the news that Facebook has a hot feed directly into the NSA's mainframe and all your posts are belong to them.
There were, unfortunately, some problems with the transmission, which I was able to capture.
Post below the squiggle.
I want to respond (ZZZT) personally to the outrageous press reports (KKKSH) about PRISM:
Facebook (Is this thing on? Testing--) is not and has never been part of any program (Dude, they can hear you!) to give the US or any other government direct access to our servers. We have never received a blanket request (No, they can't. Testing. 1--) or court order from any government agency asking for information or metadata in bulk (They can totally hear you! Shut up!), like the one Verizon reportedly received. And if we did, we would fight it aggressively. (Look, the mike's hooked into the, oh...) We hadn't even heard of PRISM before yesterday.
When governments (Exactly! Those Bush guys wired this totally wrong.) ask Facebook for data, we review each request carefully (So I can't touch the mike?) to make sure they always follow the correct processes and all applicable laws, (No, just hit record and keep your mouth shut. They're listening upstairs too.) and then only provide the information if is required by law. We will continue fighting aggressively (Wait, upstairs is listening to us?) to keep your information safe and secure.
We strongly encourage (Yes, so they can make sure we only listen to the right things. Not just the drunk people talking about sex.) all governments to be much more transparent about all programs aimed at keeping the public safe. It's the only way (But I work from home by VPN. I'm not even alone in my own home?) to protect everyone's civil liberties (There are no homes anymore. Just soft targets.) and create the safe and free society we all want over the long term. (I'm logging.)
