Disclaimer - I do not like Chris Christie. I do not live in New Jersey (but I did for three years in the early 80's). But this isn't about my personal dislike of a rude bully. This is about the Democratic Party not supporting its candidates.
I was watching MSNBC tonight and was shocked to hear that local Democratic parties in New Jersey were endorsing a republican for governor. The leader of the Essex County Democratic party endorsed Christie and said it was because Christie worked in a bipartisan way. WTF? Republicans do not endorse Democrats.
Here's the deal. Democrats can't win if they do not run candidates. It is difficult enough for Democrats to find candidates willing to run for office. It will be much more difficult to get someone to run if you do not support her/him. The number one job of the county, state and national party should be to find and help candidates win seats. All seats, all candidates, period. I've seen Buono on a few interviews. She's good. She deserves her party's support. Why are they throwing her under the bus? Why are they supporting the opponent? I was disappointed that the president last visit to NJ and she was no where in sight. Why is Christie getting a pass from the Democrats?
Christie has not been good for NJ. The very first thing he did was kill a much needed transportation tunnel under the Hudson River connecting New Jersey to New York City, easing train traffic on the east coast corridor. It was a huge job creating project and would have been a much needed boost to the state's economy. There has been much about Christie's term that has been bad for the state.
So Christie has made nice with Obama since the hurricane. For a governor who turned down federal dollars for a tunnel project to show his tea party bona fides in the first year of his term, he sure changed his tune when he needed FEMA to rescue the citizens of New Jersey after such mass destruction closer to his reelection. He's costing the taxpayers at least $10 million for a special election three weeks before a scheduled regular elections just to not have a popular Democrat on the ballot with him. He's a real republican.
I get so frustrated with the Democratic Party. There is no reason we cannot win with real Democrats supported by a real Democratic Party with real Democratic platform. Please stop this crap or we will never get this country back on the right track.

I am reposting this diary. If the Democratic state and county parties would support their candidate (I know, what a concept), Buono would win. Christie ain't all that great.
