I tripped onto this site today while looking for an NSA spying timeline and found other pieces to the NSA Surveillance pie:  PERFECT CITIZEN & RIOT

For those interested in researching, I recommend dropping into Big Brother Media Articles Excerpts of Key Big Brother Media Articles from Major Media

It's a treasure trove, one stop shop of NSA, Homeland Security, TSA, and other government internet intrusion programs that have preceded, and/or are probably connected to, PRISM.  It goes back for years!

I was interested in PRISM's timeline because I had also tripped onto information about another NSA project called PERFECT CITIZEN.

PERFECT CITIZEN is designed to spot unusual activity in databases of infrastructure companies.  Why is it called PERFECT CITIZEN and not SAVE OUR POWER or something related to utilities?

What analysts found most unnerving about Perfect Citizen is how it works.

The surveillance ....  would rely on a set of sensors deployed IN computer networks
Isn't it the "sensors deployed IN computer networks" that is so alarming about PRISM?

What if we are chasing down the wrong acronym?  Or that PRISM is just one acronym in the puzzle that will be the whole spying program consisting of many acronyms?

These systems don't just pop up because of an attack on our nation, imo.  A great deal of planning goes into these programs BEFORE a line of code is written.  I suspect that Reagan tipped us off with his Star Wars speech.  Isn't it possible that the NSA/DoD surveilance systems were co-developed with other satellite programs?

Whatever, surveillance has been developed and is operating and about to make a huge leap in 2014 with the completion of the huge NSA data centers.

NSA, Raytheon, RIOT, and William Lynn

We are all aware now that NSA falls under the DoD.

I wasn't aware that Raytheon seems to be a key player in developing computer information intercept programs.  Raytheon developed PERFECT CITIZEN (how Orwellian)

Some might remember that, contrary to his promise to NOT appoint lobbyists; however, Obama appointed Raytheon lobbyist William Lynn to DoD.

In 2010, Perfect Citizen was revealed by the Wall Street Journal.

However, when the WSJ gained access to internal emails from Raytheon Corp., the contractor awarded the secret contract worth up to $100 million according to sources familiar with Perfect Citizen (though the documents seem to indicate the contract is worth up to around $90 million), it was revealed that Raytheon didn’t see it as such.

One email stated, “Perfect Citizen is Big Brother.”

Unsurprisingly, Raytheon refused to comment on the find.

PERFECT CITIZEN and PRISM seem to go hand in hand.

But there is one more piece of the puzzle provided by Raytheon!

RIOT or Rapid Information Overlay Technology

A video obtained by the Guardian reveals how an "extreme-scale analytics" system created by Raytheon, the world's fifth largest defence contractor, can gather vast amounts of information about people from websites including Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.
Do take four minutes to watch the video created BY Raytheon.  It's freaking jaw dropping.

There are hundreds of vendors working on the US Spy Network.  But Raytheon is standing out in my brief research.

So I decided to search for Raytheon PRISM and found this article.

For a fun ACRONYM TRIP, read through this Raytheon article:

Strategic Application Assessment Case Study: Raytheon Company

So many spy acronyms, so little time.

The Big Brother website helps to manage our research time by maintaining a list-by-date record of news articles about Spying On America.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg?  Good grief.

Did you know that, in addition to the 1,000,000 square foot $Billion dollar spy center in Utah, there is another $Billion data center  breaking ground in Maryland, too.  That's a pricey back up system!

But it would be foolish to depend on JUST technology to track us, wouldn't it.

FYI

Homeland Security has this covered.

Have you volunteered to join Citizen Corps yet?

Or perhaps you would prefer to volunteer for the FBI's Infragard?

For you CSI fans, you might prefer to be a Volunteer Police Officer?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?
