Shortly after the jubilation of the first African American president and finally ridding ourselves of the near decade of shame that was the Bush/Cheney Presidency we were astounded by the lack of prosecution of the previous administrations crimes
This fact upset many of us but we told ourselves that little good would come of it even if we did. We might have even told ourselves that we were ending a political tit-for-tat that started with Nixon's impeachment. We finally had a progressive president and we were looking forward to progressive policies and direction.
Then after months of 'bi-partisanship' pissed away our super-majority in congress and eventually gifted us with a half-baked health care law we got upset again. We voted for a progressive fighter! Not this hack that thought he was above politics. Since then we saw the birth of the tea-party which was born out of the healthcare debate that should never have been allowed to go into the summer recess and quickly followed by the swiftest kick in the ass in the 2010 election which will impact blue and purple states for decades afterward.
Our 'progressive' president managed to get elected over the least likable person in politics ever since Dick Cheney which is only slightly more impressive than winning over a self-confessed baby-rapists (yeah, that's how unlikable Romney was).
And now here are in the second term
several scandals, real or imagined, at once. Benghazi, IRS, DOJ phone records, PRISM and a newly revealed approval rating that would have made Cheney proud. This has basically killed the chance for a 2014 democratic resurgence.
And now there is a growing number of democrats, joining with republicans calling for President Obama to be impeached including the very public video from T.J. Kurk the Amazing Atheist.

We need new leadership. We didn't get the progressive promised to us by Senator Obama. We got Bush's third and fourth term. Obama has arguably out-Bushed Bush except with style. He didn't close Gitmo either. Sure he might not go as far as waterboarding at this point though I wouldn't put it past him to force the Detainees to watch Joel Schumacher's 'Batman and Robin'
This site is dedicated to electing more and better democrats. Senator Obama was the most liberal democrat in the senate at the time and he still ended up being almost indistinguishable from the neo-cons. We are rightly and truly screwed. I almost don't think it matters anymore. The more I'm looking at it the more I see the only real difference between republicans and democrats is who they lie to.
and now it makes sense why Obama didn't prosecute Bush and Co. Because he is Bush and Co. except with a 'D' next to his name.
Rec it, hide it. do what ever. I'm pissed. This isn't what we voted for. You know you're on the wrong side of the argument when Cheney is defending you.
5:04 PM PT: In 2007 Obama was ranked as the most liberal democrat in the senate by the National Journal. This fact is just a side note in the diary, please do not argue this point.
