Received this e-mail today from Senator Brian Schatz's (D. HI) campaign:
In a campaign, the people who stand with you say a lot about your values and your strength.

That's why yesterday's announcement was so huge: The Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA), Hawaii's largest union representing over 42,000 members, unanimously endorsed Brian Schatz.

HGEA's endorsement is just the latest sign of the tremendous momentum building behind Brian's campaign. But with another critical quarterly fundraising deadline coming up at midnight on June 30, we need to keep that momentum going.

So today, we're launching a $25,000 grassroots fundraising drive over the next 14 days to close the quarter strong and demonstrate our commitment to keeping Brian Schatz in the U.S. Senate.

Will you contribute $5, $10, or more right now to start our June 30th fundraising drive off strong -- and keep building the momentum behind Brian's campaign?

HGEA President Jackie Ferguson-Miyamoto identified Brian's “unwavering support for Hawaii's workers” and his “solid commitment to protecting Social Security and Medicare” as the key reasons they're standing with us.

As she said so beautifully, Brian's “dedication to improving the quality of life for working families is reflected in his leadership, and resides in his heart."

The HGEA joins 23 other endorsing organizations and thousands of supporters like you who are standing with Brian because they know he is the right person to defend Social Security and Medicare, support working families, protect our environment, and fight for a better life for everyone in Hawaii.

But to keep speaking out and standing up for us, Brian needs people like you and me to stand up for him -- and make sure he has the strongest fundraising report possible when the quarter ends at midnight on June 30th.

Will you contribute $5, $10, or more right now to help reach our $25,000 fundraising goal and keep Brian Schatz standing strong in the U.S. Senate?

We're in a tight race, and you can be sure the press, pundits, and our opponents will be combing through our next fundraising report to measure the strength of Brian's campaign.

Right now, the momentum is on our side -- and we've got to keep it there.

That's why I'm doing everything I can to make sure our next fundraising report reflects the strong and diverse coalition of people joining Brian's campaign.

Brian is working day and night, reaching out to supporters all over the state to share his ideas and keep building the campaign. But we need you to step up, too. Right now is the perfect time to make your first contribution to the campaign.

Can we count on you? Click here to contribute $5, $10, or more to Brian's campaign now and help us reach our $25,000 goal before we close the books at midnight June 30th!

Thanks to HGEA -- and to you -- for your support of Brian's campaign!

Schatz for Hawaii

Schatz has received several endorsements from other major unions and has been heavily active in battling climate change in the Senate.  He is also against FISA whereas his primary opponent, Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa (D. HI-01) is a supporters of FISA.  Schatz is a true blue progressive and it's important that he wins the nominee.  Please do donate to Schatz's campaign today:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I get that she feels jilted by Schatz's appointment when it allegedly was supposed to be hers, but does she really think running to the right of somebody is going to get her through a primary in Hawaii? She's going to ruin any goodwill she has built with constituents if it turns ugly.

He's probably one of the strongest and most knowledgeable Senators on environmental issues and I'd love to see him serve a full term(or more) in the Senate.  We need more people like him in there.
