sigh
It seems, given the advice I've received from lawyer type peoples familiar with SSDI that I should stay. Either until the case is approved or until the AMA next section kicks in and I will be able to get Medicaid in Oregon. So I somewhat sadly unpacked the boot of the car.
On the other hand in completely unrelated news - I.P. Freely. \ o /
That's a woohoo arms over the head emoticon, don't get all weird on me, people!
More below the dooblydoo.
Unpacking the car seems to have brought every allergen EVER into contact with my mucous membranes. The air is trying to kill me today. I finally found a combination of antihistimines that are doing the trick, so I don't look like the snot faucet from hell - but it's been a drippy, rough day.
Add to that one of my fraternity brothers was killed today in a car crash leaving a wife and two children - and my problems don't seem nearly as big a deal as they were yesterday.
Mum is still being mean and petty, but that's normal - it takes her a couple days to get it out of her system.
So I'm stuck here. Until January or SSDI comes through, whichever is first. Whee.
On the plus side - I talked her into registering me for taekwondo again - I start next Tuesday evening.
I decided to contact the local SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) chapter to see if there are any local meetings and events, etc - because I might as well get out of the house and meet other weirdos if I have another 6 months of this shit to deal with. And my parents HATE the SCA. Because somehow in their minds - it contributed to my becoming schizophrenic. What it actually did was give me a support network to get the fuck away from my parents. So we'll see how that goes - at least it's something to do with people I vaguely have things in common with.
I get to make all new garb as I don't have any here at all - so I think I'm starting with a Korean hanbok. Not because my persona is Korean - it's Jewish - and I belong to a Mongolian household but it's a bit hot for a del. And Korea is cool. You don't see many people in hanbok, there are plenty of all over everywhere European tunics, kilts, etc. - and lots of samurai - but not so much with Korean persona. Jewish clothes are largely boring - either whatever the locals wore and really strange hats that let everyone know to avoid the Jew or boring robes in boring colours because of sumptuary laws. Too hot for 3 foot tall hats, thanks.
So I spent last night researching period hanbok and sorting out what I need to make and what I will make after that - a del. Then some Ukrainian garb - which means a shittonne of embroidery. That should keep me busy. I brought my sewing machine with me - so I have that, and once I get my "allowance" for July I can go fabric shopping. Hopefully what I want will be on sale.
My dick in a box parts arrived yesterday and after all of 7 minutes work - all set. I am never paying anyone to make one of those for me ever again. Because 7 minutes - I have that. I honestly feel much better being able to pee freely - it's a silly thing, but so important to my mental well being. I'm rather pleased with the ease of construction - and frankly stalls in men's public bathrooms are disgusting.
So that's plan B in the swamp. Martial arts and medieval times. The camping gear is still in the trunk, maybe I will get some use out of it. And when no one is looking - I can piss on Louisiana to my hearts content.
