Welcome to Thursday Coffee Hour. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and let us know what is new in your life. I wanted to give you a quick update on the health problems that have plagued me for months now. I have had upper respiratory infections since I came back from Indiana. For the last month I have had recurrent vomiting, fierce headaches, and diarrhea. Yesterday I finally made it into the asthma/allergist Doctor and we have some things pinned down.
There was good news on the lung function end. Apparently my lungs are recovering and my lung function tests were good. She has changed my medicine and we are going now for an inhalant that will strengthen my lungs and will help keep me off the albuterol, which will go back to being my emergency inhaler.
The allergy tests showed I was allergic to everything! Because I am on Social Security and just barely above poverty level we are going to have to forgo the allergy shots as I can’t afford the co-pays and deductible. She is giving me a spray to help relieve the sinuses and wants me to take a stronger antihistamine every day.
She did confirm what I had suspected all along that the cleaning of the dusty, moldy, old house was the trigger for the constant infections. I got tips for getting rid of the allergens down here at home. I showed mildly allergic to cats and the Assistant was trying to tell me to keep the cat out of the bedroom and off the bed. Good luck telling Pixie that! The Doctor realized that wasn’t possible after I told her about Pixie and she suggested I try wiping her down instead to minimize the cat dander.
So we have the allergies and asthma on a program to keep them under control. The stomach problems are not related to the asthma or allergies. They are most likely food poisoning followed by the hantavirus. We are controlling the postnasal drip that gets into the stomach over night so that it doesn’t contribute to the nausea.
For the first time in a month I am actually hungry. Supper will be a Pasta Primavera.
