Good Morning all y'all.. Welcome to KosKraft, Issue 14.
This Group is for all those creative kossack artisans, plying away at their benches. If you make things, please join, and maybe give us a look at your work.
After the silly string.
First off, if you live on Mars, and you missed this, just go HERE, and tell your fellow Kossacks to "shut up, and take my money".
Well, this week for me was interesting, but I've let you down. I forgot to take pictures of the new stuff. I had to make a Japanese style wallet (which I have already shipped out. I'm not sure it's what the customer wanted, but I sent it out as a basis for any future ones.) This usually flips people out when I do things like this. I send things out all time without getting paid first...and without price tags. Sometimes I make things I'm unsure of, or have put way too much time into, beyond what the customer may have wanted to spend. I leave notes like, "pay me when you can", "if you like it, send me what you think it's worth", etc. I know, terrible business operations! No matter what I do, I can't get rid of that old DFH. The fact of the matter is that I have never, ever been gypped out of any money. Customers have sent more money than I needed, or ordered three times as much with their next order. No matter how low I sink thinking about this Country, and life, in general, People just don't let me down, when I treat them like I want to be treated.
I'm in the middle of a big repair, too this week. Someone had a briefcase made in Europe, worth about $700, that had fallen apart (not the builders fault). It's been a challenge repairing it, and taking up way more time than I had estimated in the price. I'll eat it, of course, but the construction style, and techniques have already generated dozens of plans in my head. Live and learn. Lose a little, gain a lot.
Generally, craft people tend to be this way. It really is the difference between a Capitalist, and an Artist. A Capitalist wants the money. An Artist wants to do the job right, and most importantly, finish the project to it's completion, whether they get paid, or not.
Sometimes it drives one to drink.
Sometimes you just have to put your knees in the breeze.
Well, that's all for now.
All Kossack Artisans are welcome to join the group, just send me a PM.
In the meantime, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the
KosKatalog. They do yeoman's work in there, and it's about at businesss close to supporting "local" as you can get on the inter tubes.
Another crafty place to hang around...
