Good grief!  Who is behind this.  This is the perfect "see this shiny thing over here" story to distract a largely Libertarian crowd away from the NSA spying program discussion.

Many believe the Snowden story was cooked up to distract from Bradley Manning's trial as it is.

There is so much happening so fast in the wake of the known Bush Co lies that have been revealed, that a lot of people (not here) will believe just about anything these days, as long as it leans somewhat towards their personal bias.

The Snowden HAARP Assassination story was launched on July 10th in this manner (Just realized that some here aren't familar with the Air Force's HAARP technology.  Details at end of diary for you)

On July 10th, Internet Chronicler, releases the story.  A person connected to the IC, with an EJosephSnowden twitter account, tweets the story in a couple of languages, then BeforeItsNews runs the article on July 14th sourcing the IC, with two sources reporting the story, the HAARP and Chemtrail concerned citizens group accepts this unsubstantiated story as truth, and now the story is going viral on twitter and blogs.

The supposed author of the Internet Chronicler story uses a parody name, Oliver Wilis, of a famous progressive blogger:  Oliver Willis

This is a full court press to spread a story that is not true.  A bizarre story with lots of ears wanting to hear this story to justify their beliefs.

From the Save America Foundation:
Snowden reveals HAARP’s Global Assassination Agenda .. By Oliver Wilis

There's even a youtube video by an anti-Obama man calling himself Gary Larrabee who pretends to be reading an article from Moscow.  Gary has over 4,200 youtube followers.  He is simply reading the Internet Chronicler article.

Don't bother watching this, I just wanted to let you know all bases are being covered to "get this pretend story" out there:

OK, there are over 267,00 Google search hits for Snowden HAARP covering aspects of this pretend story that started 4 days ago.

And twitter is ablaze led by pretend Edward Snowden, EJosephSnowden, who has over 45,000 followers.

EJ's latest tweets (sounding like so many Libertarians these days) include versions in other languages:

@EJosephSnowden Me han ofrecido un acceso exclusivo a la forma en asesinos del gobierno NSA hacen su trabajo sucio con HAARP

@EJosephSnowden: I have offered exclusive access to how NSA government murderers do their dirty work with HAARP. …”

Opening up Booz Allen Hamilton's servers, I've managed to secure and leak evidence of the Zimmerman frame-up. … #tcot

The good news is that not everyone is buying into this hoax, but it is astounding how many are.

So yes

"You can fool all the people some of the time,
and some of the people all the time,
but you cannot fool all the people all the time."

- Abraham Lincoln

Who has what to gain by this pretend story going viral?

What is HAARP?

HAARP is the acronym for the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program

It is real, run by the Military and maybe funded by DARPA.

There are lots of CTs being bandied around about it because, even though it had an active website until this June, Nick Begich Jr has promoted the information the CTs are founded on. Controlling weather, poisoning the populace, mind control, etc.

What does HAARP look like?

Here's some pictures of HAARP

You can find some of the information that used to be on the HAARP website here.

There is also a book written by Nick Begich, Jr.

Dr. Nick Begich (image right) is the eldest son of the late United States Congressman from Alaska, Nick Begich Sr., and political activist Pegge Begich. He is well known in Alaska for his own political activities. He was twice elected President of both the Alaska Federation of Teachers and the Anchorage Council of Education. He has been pursuing independent research in the sciences and politics for most of his adult life.  His father disappeared along with 3 others in a plane crash.
You can read part of the book about HAARP here:

Angels Don't Play This Haarp: Advances in Tesla Technology

Begich's book is where the conspiracy theories of mind control, weather manipulation, etc. stem from.

Here's a one hour radio interview with Nick Begich, Jr where he discusses HAARP and the CT information:

The conspiracy theorists rely heavily on Dr. Begich's HAARP research, as well as physicist Bernard Eastlund, and the work of NikolaTesla.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
