While NCLB has become a dirty in Washington word and re-authorization has dragged on for the past 6 years the GOP has positioned itself to potentially score a big victory in the coming weeks. The Senate has purposed a watered down version of NCLB and given it a new name. Democrats, imho, need to not fall prey to the trap of nostalgia where we feel we must hang on to federal control of policy simply because it was Ted Kennedy's baby. Harry Reid should recognize that state (and local) control of education policy choices is a winning position and attempt to co-opt this position.
