A Florida man who allegedly shot and killed an African-American teen on Black Friday during a parking lot argument over loud music is citing the state’s so-called “stand your ground” law as his defense.
Michael David Dunn, 45, claims he was threatened with a shotgun and feared for his life during a Friday night confrontation with 17-year-old Jordan Davis over his car stereo’s volume. Jacksonville police, however, said they did not find any weapons at the scene.
Police say Dunn fired at Davis’s car eight or nine times, according to The Orlando Sentinel, striking Davis twice. Several other teens were also in the car at the time. Dunn reportedly fled the scene and returned home, only to be arrested the following day thanks to tips from witnesses
Now this guy is in a heap of trouble
He may have been in fear, he may have been threatened but
he fled the scene of the shooting, he didn't call the police,
and he didn't contact an attorney.
1) By fleeing the scene of the shooting, he clearly violated FL motor vehicle statutes.
2) He apparently sped off at high speed which is reckless endangerment.
3) he fired several shots into a car, thats' ADW.
4) one 17 year old teen was hit and died, that's murder 2
5) His Girlfriend is in trouble for aiding and abetting.

and it sounds like from the above story
6) DWI/DUI.
If he thought these teens were trouble, he could have called the police.
If he thought it was a righteous shoot he could have stuck around.
If he thought the site was dangerous, he could have moved to a place of refuge
and then called police.
The dude is being held in jail, denied bond. He's apparently losing his house,
and he's trying to get declared indigent. Which usually means his assets and earnings
are low, but florida doesn't make public defenders available easily.
there may be more to the story, and most convenience stores have
security camera footage, but, he sounds like he's in trouble.
he may want to cut a plea, get 10 as a first time offender, and take the weight.
he's 45, if he gets 20+ he'd be an old man before he gets out. if he gets 10, he could be out in 6-8 or at least do 5 at a state pen, do a year at county, and a year in a halfway house
and get paroled.
say what you want about Zimmerman, GZ was working 911, GZ was standing there when the cops came, GZ gave a statement, that while it had it's problems wasn't inconsistent with
the truth. This guy, it's just bad.
