From yr Wonkette:
The tiny community of Deer Trail, Colorado, (population 546) is considering passing an ordinance to sell “drone hunting licenses” and offer a bounty for shooting down federally owned unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The town council thinks this is just a way to sell hunting licenses at $25 / pop. The guy who came up with the idea, though, is deadly serious. And please notice that you can only hunt FEDERAL UAV; if Exxon wants to fly a UAV over your property looking for good sites to frack, or if your local sheriff is searching for meth labs, that's a-OK with the originator, one Phillip Steel. But the Federal Government is much more a threat to your freedom, right?
Also, oddly, the license specifies that you must hunt UAV with a shotgun. That's not the weapon I would choose to shoot something flying a few hundred feet up.
Anyway, we now know how to deal with the NSA and the Patriot Act. No need for thinking about who to elect to Congress; just grab a shotgun and keep sending the wingnuts to represent you. The Second Amendment will keep you free!
Deer Trail, BTW, is on the Interstate, about 60 miles east of Denver. So if you are traveling through the vast emptiness of eastern Colorado, and need to stop, why not pick up your drone hunting license at the same time?
So, our beloved Droney, brainchild of Tom Tomorrow - stay out of Colorado if you know what's good for you!
In the meantime, can we repeal the increasingly Orwellian Patriot Act?
