Darth Issa: Lord Vader, the ending of Saturday delivery for the U.S. Postal Service is coming. I can feel it.
Darth Vader: Good. Good. Now maybe the Democrats can reveal to me what happened to those Death Star plans!
First it's Solyndra, then it's Fast & Furious, then the mishap with Sandra Fluke, then Benghazi and of course the on-going investigation into the IRS which is becoming more about conservatives and Tea Party groups than any other piece of evidence that's presented on the case.
Now Darrell Issa's back and he's hungry for more on the one issue which drives the unions crazy: The Postal Service.

Door-to-door mail delivery by the Postal Service could soon be put on the chopping block as House lawmakers look for services to cut in order to help the floundering independent agency stay afloat.
In a bill introduced by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) earlier this month, he proposes an alternate centralized delivery system, which would transition away from the traditional door-to-door practices that allow many Americans to receive mail directly at their residences. Taking input from patrons and local officials, the bill says the Postal Service would be tasked with establishing new delivery points where groups of people would have their mail delivered.
“The commonsense reforms in this legislation will restore the United States Postal Service to long-term financial solvency while maintaining high-quality universal service for all Americans,” said Issa in a release. “The legislation incorporates reforms offered by members of both sides of the aisle and builds upon months of bipartisan and bicameral discussions.”
However, Issa appears not to be reaching out to any of the postal workers or unions who are being affected by the new Postal Service bill in the House. Nor does he seem to really care.

The latest effort to reform the Postal Service has already been met with opposition. Cliff Guffey, president of American Postal Workers Union, released a statement this week saying that the bill would have a "devastating effect" on postal workers and the agency's patrons. Guffey claimed the legislation fell short on issues of collective bargaining issues and service standards.
Additionally, the APWU wrote an article on its website along with a statement:

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform approved a postal bill introduced by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) on July 24, by a vote of 22 to 17. The vote was along party lines, with all Republicans voting in favor of the measure and all Democrats voting against it. All amendments submitted by Democrats were defeated by the same margin. Voting concluded at approximately 8:15 p.m.
“If it is enacted, this bill will lead to the demise of the Postal Service,” said APWU President Cliff Guffey. “I call upon all APWU members to contact their U.S. representatives and urge them to vote ‘no’ when the bill is brought before the full House.”
The bill (H.R. 2748) would:
Prohibit postal unions and management from negotiating protection against layoffs;
Increase health insurance costs for employees;
Limit collective workers’ bargaining rights;
Close post offices, stations and branches;
Consolidate plants, and
Privatize operations.
“The changes proposed by H.R. 2748 would severely weaken the Postal Service,” said Legislative and Political Director Gary Kloepfer. “We must defeat it.”

More details to follow.
So Congressman Issa, when are you going to apologize for your Iraq War votes which increased the U.S. debt in the first place?
Nothing?
Oh well.
As usual, keep the San Diego County Democratic Party busy since they're the most local and active Democratic Party nearby Darrell Issa's area of residence (not to mention his local office).
Make sure you mark down this information and pass it on to others for firing up the base in California's 49th Congressional District if you want to target Issa for re-election and get voter registration drives going. If you can find someone in the CA-49 who can run against Issa in 2014, the more the merrier:
