Welcome to Sunday All Day Brunch. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. I am currently rereading the Mrs. Pollifax mysteries. They crack me up. In the first book Mrs. Pollifax, who is a widow in her 60s, decides that she wants to fulfill her childhood dream of being a spy and walks into C.I.A. headquarters and asks if they need any spies.
One of the things I love about the books is the idea that you are never too old to pursue your dreams. I was 65 in March. I have always dreamed of being a professional artist. I am now pursuing that dream. I have had my first magazine cover. I am regularly featured in an award winning on-line magazine and Chris Garcia loves my work and can’t get enough of it. I have sold pieces on line at both Zazzle and Fine Arts America.
I first knew I wanted to be an artist as a small child. My Mom kept all my report cards and I was looking at one from my second grade teacher, Mrs. Bluestein. She wrote, “Take a look at her art!” That encouragement at a young age was all it took for me to continue to practice and improve my art over the years. When arthritis threatened my art career I learned computer-generated art.
My philosophy over the years has been you are never too young to be encouraged and never too old to pursue your dreams. I may be 65 but I still have a ton of artwork that needs to be done. My latest is “The Supernova.” As an avid astronomy lover I know that when suns go supernova that the shock waves that go out will be enough to shatter any planets in their path.
