I avoided many things related to the Zimmerman trial in order to minimize group influence. I felt that the less I knew the easier it would be to get a feel for what happened. I still have not reviewed the trial because I regarded the reluctance of Florida to prosecute or treat Martin’s death scene as a potential crime by preserving evidence quite telling. I relied on a few comments and quick news summaries that used Zimmerman’s words and verifiable data like recordings.

One thing I found quite odd was that the prosecution used a large image of Zimmerman’s bloody nose. I recently learned that it was not the original file and that it did not follow chain of custody procedures (yeah, like I know what those are). Anyway, it was a part of the trial.

After I learned about that photo, I was curious about the other photographs in the trial. I wanted to see them for myself. I could not find any photos of Zimmerman’s torso. That was surprising because I would like to have seen the bruises from the resulting fight. I still don’t know if the prosecution ever took high resolution pictures of Zimmerman’s scalp so that we could see the scar tissue from his head wounds.

Another surprise for me was learning that Zimmerman did not have on a red jacket. He had on a red and black jacket. That would have been a nice detail to know (for me) considering that one main witness used colors and shades to describe what he saw that horrible night.

As I did a quick look through the photos of Zimmerman’s head wounds; I noticed the direction of the blood stains flowing forward and downward. This could have occurred at anytime after the fight. But the exclusive ABC photo did not show continued blood flow to the front. What caught my attention was the lower right jaw in the photo from the SPD.

I noticed that the blood not only flowed forward but seemed to collect in Zimmerman’s goatee. The trail appears to be across the jaw and flowing upward. I don’t have access to high resolution photos but the same pattern appeared in the bloody nose photo i.e. blood accumulated in a tear from the rear. The exclusive photos were taken minutes after Zimmerman killed Martin.

I also found it odd that there appears to be scuff marks and what appears to be grass on the toes of Zimmerman’s shoes. But there is a lack of grass stains or moisture on the heels of those shoes or on the extended length fabric pants that he is wearing. Again, it would help to have high resolution photos.

Since I don’t know how to verify sources of the photographs that I viewed I won’t try to post them. If this has been discussed then I would appreciate a quick answer about the blood patterns. If you do look at the photo then I suggest you enlarge it. There is an interesting pattern in the photo that I viewed.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

In fact, I'm trying to forget as much as I can today in order to get a better feel for the facts.

You seem very detailed.  I never believed that Zimmerman
got beat up.  I do not even believe that kid provoked anything out of fear.   He got away with murder.

What do you think these photos show? FYI, many people commented that the blood path on the back of his head seemed to indicate that his head was down, negating his assertion that he was on the bottom. However, there was also evidence that he was still blotting blood when he reached the PD. He said he was leaning over Trayvon after he shot him. So it's unclear what that indicates.

Re: photo of his face. That one is interesting. The photo was taken by a police officer at the scene, using his own cell. According to the testimony, the police were trying to find someone who knew him, and possible witnesses didn't want to get close to him. Here's the interesting part: The officer said that when he got home, he uploaded the photo to his home computer, and erased it from his phone. And then forgot about it. Three weeks later, he magically remembered it.

Note: the pictures were presented by the defense, not the prosecutors.

What are you trying to figure out?

blood patterns, because I believe the paramedics cleaned him up, and the wounds started bleeding again, and some of the pictures are not "original".  The patterns would only stay the same if Zimmerman didn't move at all for 5 minutes or so after the wounds, anyway.

Yeah, that was a joke, just like the trial was.
