The verdict in the Bradley Manning trial is a travesty of justice.
The only surprise was that he was not convicted of the most serious charge: aiding and abetting.
Still, this is a dark day for the free flow of information in America, and a tragedy for one individual whose goal was to expose wrongdoing by the U.S. government.
Manning should not be in prison at all. He has done a great public service. He is not a spy; he is a whistleblower.
