Oh, c'mon.
Senate candidate Liz Cheney improperly received a state resident fishing license based on an application with incorrect information, according to Wyoming Game and Fish Department records.
There's at least two problems. First, she asked for and got the license less than three months after moving to the state last year (you're supposed to be a resident for a year). Second, her application says she's lived there 10 years, and even Liz Cheney is prepared to recognize
that one as bullshit:
“The clerk must have made a mistake,” she said. “I never claimed to be a 10-year resident.”
And since there's no way in hell a member of the Cheney family would turn out dishonest, we're gonna have to back her up on that. Either way, though, she's been catching fish illegally for about a year, which is quite possibly the least illegal thing a Cheney has ever done, and probably the thing that's killed the fewest fish besides.
Look, can we please all just stipulate that Liz Cheney is a super-duper Wyoming resident and be done with it? She's lived there, I don't care, let's say 75 years, and it's a picture of her and her favorite horse that appear on the Wyoming state quarter, back during her old bronco-busting days, and she's the reason all of Wyoming's corners are a perfect 90 degree angle. Whatever it takes to prop her up in her primary bid against fellow Republican Mike Enzi, we're all for it. I'm even willing to tolerate her being on television talking about foreign policy stuff that she has absolutely no experience with other than "because my dad told me," for a while, if it helps. Let's just do this thing.
