Received this e-mail today from Senator Jeff Merkley (D. OR) regarding climate change:
Sticking our heads in the sand won't stop global climate change.
But that's exactly what's happening every day in Congress. Extremists peddle junk science, and our planet cooks.
We must act before it's too late.
Join me and Senators Chris Coons, Mark Udall, Bob Menendez, and Sheldon Whitehouse:Sign our petition demanding Congress take action to stop global climate change:

There's already more carbon in the air than at any time since humans began walking the earth. Ignoring climate change has the potential to doom future generations to environmental and economic consequences unlike any that humanity has faced before.
That's not exaggeration. That's a fact.
Believe me, Congress hears plenty from the lobbyists for big coal and oil companies. They need to hear from you, too.

Even in a divided Congress there are things we can do. That's why I support a number of bipartisan bills to reduce carbon emissions by strengthening support for clean energy technologies, improving energy efficiency, and increasing funding for scientific research.
But we need your support. We need a grassroots movement to take on the polluters and their allies.
