One there was a beautiful land with forests and meadows and deserts. In these lands lived with little brown birds that nested in the rich variety of trees and grasslands. Some of these birds built huge colonial nests and raised many little birds far above the Jaguars that looked up at them hungrily. Others of these birds lived in solitary nests out in the wilderness and lived happily above the snakes that wanted some of their baby birdies for dinner.
Then one day a strange crowlike bird was blown in by the wind from a foriegn land and was starving. The little birds took pity on this strange bird and taught him to eat of the fruits and seeds of their land. They shared their pumpkin seeds, corn kernels, fruits and the little beans they had. The little bird birds taught the strange bird to sit in a tree and shit out the magic seeds so that the plants they needed would grow from the dicarded seeds.
But the strange bird like a Magpie was a selfish bird and didn't want to share the new found wealth of this land with the small brown birds. So he called out to invite his kind to come and partake int he feasting and sacking of this beautiful land. Many came and comsumed the the bounty of the land and attacked the little birds that came to eat those little bits which had fallen like crumbs from the greedy gluttony of these crows. The land became barren because the strange birds knew nothing about caring for the land because they were from away and didn't care. They had a history of raiding the nests and trees of other birds in other lands and knew there were other places to go to when this bounty ran out. But the little brown bird knew that they had to restore their food source in order to raise their babies.
So they set about nurturing the land inspite of the strange birds and provided food for themselves and the strange birds. Now these strange birds never left because the food never ran out due to the valiant efforts of the little brown birds. But also the strange birds never ceased cawing and crowing about those dirty little brown birds scatching in the soil. One day may come when the strange birds caw so loudly the little bird birds may decide to return to a more ancient land and leave the strange birds to starve amid their cawing and screeching. Then the strange birds will fall on each other and kill their own kind for food as they lack the knowledge of how to care for the land.
That's my story for this day
