Campaign Report: The Robin Hood Tax Campaign is Strong and Growing

Over 100,000 Americans are now involved with the American Robin Hood Tax Campaign.  Thousands of endorsers, 100’s of Organizational endorsers representing 2 million of their members, over 1,000 economists, the Vatican, Some of the brightest minds in the country and the 2 richest men in America, as well and an ever growing number of volunteer teams.

The Robin Hood Tax is a Game Changer.  Its passage will direct our American future back in the direction we had after WWII – a time of a strong and prosperous working class, educational opportunities for all from the best universities in the world. Imagine - Our Country - on the right track – for the first time in at least 20 years.   The Robin Hood Tax can restore a tiny measure of balance and morality in the way America is governed.

Many have asked why the two richest persons in America have endorsed the Robin Hood Tax.  Simple answer: many rich people understand what is meant by the social contract....wherein it becomes a vested interest in seeing that all of us prosper as we are connected by humanity and nationality and community. Many of those you see here spewing anger still don’t understand that connection, or the fact that their prosperity is a direct result of those connections they insult and seek to sever from reality.

The Robin Hood Tax can be a game changer for a fairer, more democratic, more humane, more balanced, and more moral American Tax System.

This tiny sales tax on Wall Street is:
.5% on stocks, just $.50 (50 cents) for each $100 of stock trades;
.1% on bonds, just $.10 (ten cents) for each $100 of bond trades;
.005% on derivative speculation in currencies, commodities, or other trades, just $.005 (half a penny) for each $100 of trades

The revenue generated is estimated by economists to be up to 350 billion each year!

The Robin Hood Tax can be a game changer for a fairer, more democratic, more humane, more balanced, and more moral American Tax System.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
