Why do People Spread Rumors?
Answer
People spread rumors because they are not happy with themselves. An unhappy person tries to make other people unhappy. They are probably jealous of the person they are spreading the rumor about.
From;
A biological study of the rumormonger
You see, the rumormonger is only active for a few months out of the year.
...they lie under the sand, content to let the apex predators of... feast on the real meat of the news cycle.
This is when the rumormonger rises from the ground and spreads its bullshit pincers.
Once they find a target, however, they strike, and they strike with a vengeance.
Currently, they're sinking their bullshit pincers into one and raising him up over their heads to stab him with the horrific stupidity of their stingers.
What to conclude from this? Several things.
Firstly, if you hear a rumormonger in your midst, shield your ears.
Secondly, carry a can of CommonSensium at all times, and do not be afraid to coat yourself in it
Beware the rumormonger. Avoid its bullshit pincers.
During the late 80's thru the early to mid 90's there was a rash of child sexual abuse cases involving child day care centers. What seemed as horrific episodes world-wide had by the late 90's thru the early 2000 seemed more aligned with the Salem Witch Trials than a world-wide epidemic of child sexual abuse.
PBS's Frontline did a three part documentary covering the gaps and wholes in the interview techniques of the initial child interviewers. As it turns out, the damage caused to the children was caused by the interview techniques used by the therapist, police and prosecutors. One former employee at the Little Rascals Day Care Center who was being pressured to submit her children for interviews had a brother who was a prosecutor in a larger southern city. He advised her to have her children evaluated by a child psychologist from another state without disclosing the background. He told her, that if there was anything to the abuse, his office had found that it would be revealed in a routine evaluation. She did as advised and refused to provide her children for the prosecutions interviewers. And the prosecutors proceeded to make veiled threats suggesting that "her" name had been mentioned in some of the children's interviews. She told her brother.
We should always be wary of claims made by anyone who has something to gain from an accusation of wrongdoing. Even when such a claim has the support of those in authority or are acting with the color of authority. We should always seek for truth and not follow the mob. Their is never justice in mob behavior, just vengeance.
Also, keep in mind, that while everyone was focused on child day care centers, the real culprits were hiding in plain site within another institution.
On with the games!!
