12 more dead in Washington.
How many more? Does it even matter? Words will be spoken, condolences will be sent, outrage will be stated -- I'm so outraged it's hard to even write this diary.
When will it stop? When will our President stand up and get angry that people are being slaughtered just because they are living and breathing, for no reason at all?
When will we stop allowing civilians to own military-grade weapons? Why are our so-called leaders so afraid of the gun lobby that not one of them will stand up and say the right thing?
The NRA must be destroyed. Piece by piece if necessary, but its position and its money are destroying the fabric of our society. The Second Amendment was never intended to turn this country into an armed camp.
Australians got outraged over a mass shooting in 1996 and banned virtually all guns from private ownership. That's what a civilized society does.
It seems to me, sadly, that we are no longer a civilized society.
What will it take to stop the slaughter? 100 dead? 500? 1,000?
Someone, please, stand up and lead us away from this madness.
