If you're a Paul Simon fan, you're going to like this offer from Senator Al Franken's (D. MN) re-election campaign:
The next quarterly fundraising deadline is coming up in just 12 days -- and we absolutely, positively must reach our $175,000 goal before it hits.

That’s why you should make a contribution today. Just click here and give $5, $10, or whatever you can afford. Do it right now. You’ll help us build our grassroots campaign, be automatically entered to win a trip to Washington to hang out with me and Paul Simon on October 4th, and show the special interests that we won’t be --

What’s that? Oh. Yeah, I guess I buried the lede there a bit.

This month, we’re bringing one lucky winner (and, of course, a guest of his or her choosing) to D.C. to hang out with me and PAUL SIMON at an intimate campaign event on October 4th -- so click here right now and make a contribution of any size, and you’ll be automatically entered to win!!!

Sorry for all the exclamation points there, but this is one cool contest.

Even if you’ve been lucky enough to see Paul perform before, I bet you’ve never seen him at a small, intimate event like the one we’re planning. I bet you’ve never gotten to meet the legend himself and get a photo with him. At least not one that I’m also in.

And, most importantly, I bet you’ve never gotten to enjoy watching and meeting Paul Simon while knowing that you’re also helping me fight for Minnesota’s middle class.

What I’m trying to say here is that this will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a Paul Simon fan. And I don’t know anyone who isn’t a Paul Simon fan.

So don’t miss your chance to win. Click here to help us reach our $175,000 goal, and you’ll be automatically entered!

All that stuff I said about our third-quarter goal is true -- and really important. This is a critical moment for our campaign, and we can’t afford to fall short now.

But the stuff about Paul Simon? That’s just cool.

Click here to make a contribution and you’ll be automatically entered!

Thanks, and good luck -- maybe I’ll see you on October 4th.

Al

P.S.: As always, we’ll take care of travel and accommodations for you and your guest. But only if you win. So why wait? Make a contribution today and be automatically entered!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
