was masterful.
Disclosure: I am not a fan of Dawkins--I find him extremely dogmatic without paying much attention to nuance, and I don't understand the hero-worship that some people seem to have for him (a few of my own friends included). That said, this discussion is civil, really sharp, and fascinating from both participants
I felt that Stewart, in his usual self-deprecating style, did an outstanding job of allowing Dawkins to take a few mis-steps in his own surety, and do the extent that this was, in fact, a 'debate', I'd have to say that Stewart had the upper hand through extremely poignant questions. Maybe I'm biased--but I do try to be objective about these things.
That said, I had never really spent any time listening to Dawkins closely, and very much enjoyed listening to his points of view as well.
For those of you who have 15 minutes to spare (well, I don't, but i did anyway), I urge you to listen to the entire thing (not just till the end of the TV show segment)
Here you go
Also, while I realize that there are passions around the religion issue, I would appreciate if comments like 'So your magic sky fairy won your football game for you?' could be kept to a minimum.
Feel free to comment whether or not you've seen the interview--but comments from people who did see it would be particularly welcome.
