As I've said before, there are groups, boots-on-the-ground, if you will, that are moving heaven and earth to register and get out the vote. As Kos said, we outnumber them.
But how do you get them to want to go to the polls is and always be the central question.
I bypass the better candidates and other arguments, not because the aren't legitimate, but because they don't speak to the heart of the matter.
We know that republican voters can be depended on to respond consistently to fear. I don't know why so many people would thrive on fear, but they do, apparently. Thus, the Republican message is always a buffet of fear, never mind the poor messaging. And it gets results.
Democratic voters are different. They can rarely be scared in to doing anything. They respond to logic.
Logic has never pushed anyone's adrenalin button.
All of this is to say that I think messaging, as opposed to the message, is the key to success for us. A way must be found to entice ours each and every time. Win a few; lose a few just won't get it done.
But how? Perhaps, better writers. Psychologists, sociologists can help. But even better is HOLLYwood, that screwy ballyhooey Hollywood. These are people that know how to make a movie trailer, and that's exactly what a campaign ad is. It pushes all the buttons to get you to, not only, want to go, but makes you look forward to the experience.
I certainly don't have all the angles on this, yet, but if it isn't the answer, I give up. We'll never get that horse to water, much less get it to drink .
Betchu REALLY wanna vote, now.
