Well, well. Methinks the republicans in the house are feeling a little uncomfortable I got another email from my asshat representative, Jim Gerlach. Here's the email:
Dear xxxxxx
As you may know, Tuesday October 1st marks the beginning of the federal government's fiscal year. For federal agencies and programs that rely on annual discretionary funding, Congress and the President must enact interim or full-year appropriations legislation by this date in order to keep these federal agencies and programs operating.
On September 20th, I voted to support a continuing resolution (CR), H.J. Res. 59, which would keep the federal government funded through mid-December and roll back funding for the President's health care law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 111-148), commonly known as ObamaCare. That being said, on September 27th, the U.S. Senate amended the CR to limit funding until November 15th and removed the provisions in it to defund ObamaCare.
In the coming days, the U.S. House of Representatives will consider and debate the Senate's amendment to the House CR. To date, I have heard from constituents who have expressed concern about the passage of a CR and the implications it may have on shutting down government operations. On the other hand, I have heard from constituents who believe that Congress should not pass a CR and risk shutting down the government unless the CR contains provisions to defund ObamaCare.
I appreciate having the benefit of your views as Congress considers this critical issue.
Please let me know what best matches your point of view:
Continue funding government operations, including funding for ObamaCare
Shut down the government if the CR does not defund or delay ObamaCare

It didn't copy well but at the end of the letter is a survey. He is asking whether he should jump off the funding cliff with the batshit crazy tea bagger republicans or be a little more sane and pay the bills already accrued by approved congressional spending.
I wrote a diary a few days ago because I received a previous email from Gerlach full of lies regarding the ACA, the budget and keeping the government funded. Here's a link to the previous letter.
Gerlach has been in office for a long time and he continues to hang on no matter how they draw his district. This is the first time I've received an email from him asking how he should vote. This is the second email in one week. I usually don't get very many from Gerlach's office so I find this very unusual. Suburban Philadelphia, specifically Chester County is republican but not the crazed fundie kind. They are the wealthy kind of republican. So I think he's feeling the heat about messing with the credit and the credit rating of the United States from those who like their government on a more stable and predictable path.
There may be hope yet to rein in the crazies in the republican party. If the monied and powerful can isolate and cut off the real tea bag crazies, we may be able to at least but the continuing resolution to fund the government to rest.
