I'm watching CSpan's coverage of the US Congress. I really cannot explain to anyone the absolutely incredible stupidity coming from tweets and callers.
Meanwhile, Paul Ryan is counting on not only the government shutting down, but the United States defaulting on its debt obligations, as well. His presumption is that, then, the Republicans can defund The Affordable Care Act.
The Republicans stand in the well of the House of Representatives and speak nothing but absolute prevarications (lies) as if Gospel, even as the American people who cannot even begin to fully understand the depths of the disagreement clearly understand what is being attempted.
Meanwhile, I see positive counts in favor of this travesty by Democrats. Yes, as is being so very clearly seen, there have been the occasional (single digit) Republican negative vote. As Ryan, Cruz, Boehner, et al so piercingly scream, this is the only way to ... what, exactly? Perhaps, my thoughts below the squiggledoodlethingey fold will just make sense to me.
Let's presume, for the sake of argument, that the government does shut down. As a veteran, and as a disabled American, I am told that it is entirely possible that my SSDI payment (and therefore, the basis of my life of luxury) may be delayed. I may not be able to acquire the prescriptions which make my living possible. That is, without them, I either go into a hospital, or I die. For these two reasons alone, this entire ridiculous shitstorm of mendacity may be appealing or even entertaining for some folks as the Republican-controlled House forces it's will on behalf of the corporate Plutocrats singularly determined to undo democracy in my land, but for me it's really kind of personal.
Let's further presume the President is absolutely serious in his stated refusal to sign anything other than "Clean" legislation regarding both the CR and the Debt Limit Increase.
Imagine, for a moment, what happens. Do you actually believe that, as Wall Street and the entire world economy collapse, the Republicans and Tea Party Terrorists who have brought this imbroglio to bear upon the massive majority of the American citizenry, much less the populations of the entire world are NOT going to get some kind of really, and truly SERIOUS smakdown?
What precisely do you bunch of hypocritical traitors actually believe will be left to govern? And who, in their wildest imaginations, would EVER allow a single one of you within 1,000 miles of Washington, D.C.? And all this because why, exactly? Jobs? Economy? The general welfare? To protect? To defend?
Mike Coffman, you are a pathetic, treasonous, traitorous liar without so much as a shred of understanding about your responsibility. This is neither new, or news to your Colorado constituents. Believe me on this one.
The President is correct. The Republicans know he is correct, and have known so for a very, very long time. Their absolute refusal to even address the violently pressing needs of an ever-increasing majority of newly impoverished people in this country has been an absolute attempt to overthrow the Constitution of the United States of America. I'm not certain how this could not withstanding even the most severe scrutiny. I mean, after all, the Republicans and their Tea Party lapdogs have been saying so since before the inauguration of President Obama.
It is time for the President, as the representative of the American People, and those who support his rights and obligations of office, to stop this insanity where it stands. Right now. For those of you electeds as Democrats who just cannot seem to see your way clear to do that?
Perhaps your replacements will.
