I actually received two e-mail regarding the 2013 Virginia Governor's race today.  The first one comes fro U.S. Senate and former Governor Tim Kaine (D. VA) in support of Terry McAuliffe (D. VA):
Our state is facing tough challenges and difficult choices. We need a strong leader who can grow our economy and make Virginia the nation's best place to do business once again.

Terry McAuliffe is that leader. But despite the impressive organization that he and other Virginia Democrats have put together, Terry could be outspent in his race for governor.

The Republican Governors Association has already spent $6.8 million, and three right-wing Super PACS have recently launched attack ads against Terry.

That's why I'm asking for your help. Last year these same outside groups, super PACs, and big-money billionaires spent more money trying to defeat my campaign for Senate than on any other race in the country. We didn't let them win last time, and we won't let them win now.

Will you make a contribution before the fundraising deadline tomorrow night to help Terry fight back?

Terry's vision for Virginia is one that builds a strong and diverse 21st century economy by creating jobs, investing in workers, and building up our infrastructure. Terry has spent the past year building a grassroots campaign that has reached out to every corner of our great state. He's focused on solutions for Virginia and on finding ways to work with people from both sides of the aisle to best serve all the people of our Commonwealth.

But in these last weeks before Election Day, anything could happen and it's critical that Terry has the resources he needs to turn out every vote, fight back against every attack, and finish what we've started.

Will you donate today to make sure Terry has what he needs to fight back against the endless attacks?

Thanks for your help. Together, we'll not only win a battle for smart economic strategies and inclusive politics — but we'll also show that the grassroots voter, volunteer and donor is stronger than even the most powerful outside group.

Tim Kaine

I also received and e-mail from the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund which is dedicated to defeating anti-science, climate change denier Ken Cuccinelli (R. VA):

This fall, climate deniers like Ken Cuccinelli in Virginia are attempting to gain serious ground in local and state governments -- and they think you’re going to sit this one out.

They’re making a mistake. They’ve underestimated our determination. They’ve underestimated your ability to make denying climate change a toxic political position.

And with a dollar-for-dollar match on the table for just one more day, I promise you there’s no smarter way to stand up for environmental progress today.

Hard-hitting ads... grassroots rallies... door-to-door outreach... your donation is your decision to push these election-winning tactics to the next level. But these campaigns are only as strong as you make them.

We’re just $20,000 away from our goal of $75,000 by tomorrow’s midnight FEC deadline. Make your gift of just $5 to LCV Action Fund right now -- every dollar you give will be DOUBLED!

Your gift to LCV Action Fund supports some of the most sophisticated, effective electoral campaigns going today. Victory after victory during the 2012 elections proved it: these tactics work.

We’re doing it again right now in Virginia, where the governor’s seat is up for grabs in a very close race. A win for notorious climate change denier Ken Cuccinelli is more than bad news for Virginia -- it’s bad news for the whole country. So we’re giving everything we’ve got to defeat him, with grassroots campaigns and get-out-the-vote efforts that could be the key to swinging this election in our favor.

This race will be decided by an aggressive ground game in the last weeks of the election. That’s going to come down to LCV Action Fund’s resources -- and that depends on you.

This is your last chance to make twice the impact on critical races in Virginia and around the country. Help raise $75,000 for LCV Action Fund with a gift of just $5 right now -- it’s the best money you’ll spend all week:

There’s a lot at stake right now, from Keystone XL to oil drilling in the Arctic. And ultimately, the fate of our environment comes down to people like you and me -- and how hard we’re willing to fight against those who pollute and destroy for profit. Please stand with me now and support LCV Action Fund.

Thank you,

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
