As I've been reading the recent front-pagers on "Obamacare," I've been feeling increasingly uneasy. Here's the thing:
I'm sorry that the left has adopted the right's Obamacare moniker, which let us not forget is intended as a slur. Yeah, I know, something to be proud of and all that. And yet...
I sorta wish that Obama (and, following his lead, all of "us") had insisted on calling it "Romneycare," which in essence it is, patterned after the successful Massachusetts program inaugurated during Mitten's term as governor.
It would have been delicious to see it presented as a tribute to a worthy, but vanquished foe, a supreme gesture of good sportsmanship, giving credit where credit was due, rather than hogging all the glory for himself.
Not only would it have been a gracious bi-partisan gesture from a magnanimous President, but it would have the added benefit of driving the Republicans bat-shit crazy.
Just sayin'.
