On September 30 fcvaguy posted a diary titled I Concede: Guns are like Cars. It had some great comparisons on how cars are regulated and how guns should be.
I copied it and posted it to a forum I've been on for a long time. I pushed for gun control on it a while ago and was told no politics or bye bye. I've since been using pieces of the GunFail series here.
After posting the Guns are like Cars piece I got some interesting responses.
From a woman in Georgia.
Automobile ownership is not a right enumerated in the Constitution.
I asked if she was a member of a well regulated militia. Before she could respond I got this from a prosecutor in Dallas.
Yes, the Militia being comprised of "all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense." United States v. Miller, 307 U.S. 174, 179, 59 S.Ct. 816, 83 L.Ed. 1206 (1939)
Concert? You mean like send in the tuba platoon? This is a job for
Saxphone
Euphonium
Accordion
Launeddas Team 6?
The lady from Georgia replied to my militia question with,
It doesn't matter if I am or not because "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." If you need a more detailed description of this amendment please see here: http://www.heritage.org/...
In response, I asked her why United States v. Miller had left out half of the population and, if she had to give up either her car or her gun forever, which one would it be?
The thought of having to give up her car or gun has apparently put her brain into an ABEND as there haven't been any responses in over twenty-four hours.
