President Obama dismantles Stutzman's remark
Yesterday, GOP congressman Marlin Stutzman of Indiana demanded a trophy for ending the Republican shutdown, but admitted that he's not quite sure what the trophy should be:
"We're not going to be disrespected, We have to get something out of this. And I don't know what that even is."
Well, that quote has proved to be quite embarrassing for Republicans as they try to spin themselves out of blame for the shutdown. So,
cue the "clarification":
“Yesterday, I carelessly misrepresented the ongoing budget debate and Speaker Boehner’s work on behalf of the American people. Despite my remarks it’s clear that the American people want both parties to come to the table to reopen the government, tackle this nation’s debt crisis, and stop ObamaCare’s pain.”
Ah, that makes everything clear: The only thing House Republicans (or, as he calls them, "the American people") want in exchange for not shutting down the government is to stop Obamacare. Glad we cleared that one up.
