That's John Boehner's new twist on the old classic "your money or your life"...at least if we believe him on today's interview with George Stephanopolous. I, for one, do believe it. Simply put, we've simply not yet found the limit to GOP insanity. First, it was supposed to be the sequester, then the shutdown, now this: default. They may well do it. Because simply put, they have no alternate path to success.
The choice in front of us is stark. Democrats need to be as clear on this as possible, because anything other than total rejection of this power grab will result in an unacceptable attack on one or the other.
We know that there is no amount of pain or suffering among the 99% that moves votes for the GOP House or Senate members. This needs to be emphasized. But we can go further by talking about how, in the event of a default, Democrats will enact policies to reform the system so that it doesn't happen again. We know how much Wall St. loved Dodd-Frank, so maybe say hello to Grayson-Warren...
On the Democracy side, how about a Senate vote to end the Filibuster a few days before 10/17.
Just a few thoughts on the day the Speaker of the House threatened to destroy our economy. Or our Democracy but hey, that's strictly up to us. Right?
