(During the shutdown, the Republicans should work as grounds crew for the NFL. They are experts at moving goalposts!)
How many times did we hear that the Iraq War was about Sadaam’s involvement in the terrorist attacks of 9/11?
After awhile, that argument became even too farcical for Republicans to push with a straight face (and straight faces is what Republicans specialize in). So they decided that the Iraq War was about WMDs. Lots of scary WMDs, except…there weren’t any. So, the war was about the potential for WMDs and the potential for mayhem that Sadaam might potentially cause us.
(Never mind that Sadaam was truly the enemy of our enemies, and thus, according to Sun Tzu, our friend; and we really shouldn’t have defeated a true enemy of Al Qaeda and the only counterbalance to Iran… But I digress).
So now we live with the stale and ridiculous explanation that Sadaam was a threat in the region and we eliminated that potential threat. Ok, great. This is exactly the type of justification to which lying self-righteous idiots retreat when all other arguments have been destroyed: the kind of justification that never ever would have been sufficient before the fact, and is barely coherent, and embarrassingly, transparently, laughable after the fact.
So….why in hell is our government shutdown?
Republicans said it was over spending and Obamacare, and then it became about their entire policy agenda from the 2012 elections. Now that it’s not over Oabamacare and their policy agenda is a joke of a scramble of a demand, the government was shut down because of ideological differences, or the potential that Socialist Obama is going to tax us and take away guns and impose job-killing regulations on businesses, and other awful things. In other words, policy differences that have been debated for 200 years without shutdowns and hostage-killing.
It is an obvious scramble to explain and justify after the fact, what either those not in the know have no clue how to explain; or what those in the know can explain, but won’t, because they know it won’t fly to say that the government was shut down because huge corporate money wants it that way and we hate Obama in our guts for some reason to be named later maybe.
Meanwhile, to continue the analogy, how many Republicans would actually vote to stop the lynching of our President; because you know there is a faction that wants to do Barack Hussein just like they did Sadaam Hussein.
(My guess is a vote to stop those proceedings would not be unanimous).
Hey, lying scum who hate our government so much:
1) If you hate government so much, go get a job in the private sector.
2) We're not greeting you as liberators. Sorry.
Oh, and one more note to Republicans: Fuck you!
