Just saw that PPP released its latest polling on 12 additional Republican held districts considered vulnerable in 2014. This polling once again shows that the vast majority of Americans blame House Republicans for the ongoing shutdown. Of the 12 seats, 5 had Republicans trailing, and a six had them tied with generic Democrats. Once told that the House member voted for the shutdown, Democrats took 8 of the House seats.
This polling is in-line with more recent polling done by PPP.
Public Policy Polling has now surveyed a total of 36 House districts in two weeks, and the results show Republican incumbents are in serious danger in 29 out of the36.
Democrats must net 17 seats to reclaim the House.
Of particular interest (for me personally) is the PA-06 results. PA-06 is currently held by R-Gerlach (douche-bag), who according to this poll is currently sitting at 34/43 approval and trails a generic democrat 46-41. When told that Gerlach supported the shutdown those numbers shift to 48-41.
Obviously the continued shutdown and debt ceiling fight have real and terrible impacts on people throughout the country, and hopefully numbers like these will cause Republicans to cave. Overall these speaks to a deep dissatisfaction with Republicans and potential Democratic gains in 2014.
