Finally, a worthwhile [fun] use of high-powered rifles that doesn't involve human victims.
Actually, I really don't know whether to laugh at this news... or feel a strange sense of relief.
The town of Deer Trail has rescheduled the special election during which voters will decide whether the town should sell licenses to hunt drones.
The town board of six was evenly split on the ordinance when it took up the issue in August, so it forwarded the decision to voters.
The Denver Post
According to Mayor Frank Fields, the election was originally scheduled for this coming Tuesday but it was rescheduled due to its close proximity to the November 5th general election. The election is now scheduled for Dec. 10.
A resident of Deer Trail first introduced the ordinance proposal after hearing media reports about increased government surveillance efforts using unmanned aircraft. As drafted, the ordinance would require the town to issue $25 hunting permits to any applicant able to read and understand the English language.
The ordinance includes rules, including limiting shooting to daylight hours and allowing shooting only of unmanned aerial vehicles flying lower than 1,000 feet over private property.
Hmm, I wonder if ALEC will get behind legislation like this across the country.
