Greetings liberal thinking people.
I should start off by confessing that I am not one of you, as my views very much lean Libertarian. Confession two, I used to identify myself as fiscally conservative and socially moderate, until I realized that the conservative leadership was not about balanced budgets or fiscal responsibility - but rather they simply shifted my money to different areas, and different special interests.
After poking around your site, I will offer up my last confession: I believe that a large portion of what I am reading on this website is absolute proven failed ideology over honest ideas or debate. That said, I was hoping to open a conversation about fiscal responsibility - both personal and governmental - and hoping that the majority of the respondents adhere to rule number one. "Don't be a dick."
My elongated question is as follows: The membership of the Daily Kos seem to have multiple areas of wishes, most that require taxing one set of people and giving to another. We are 17-Trillion dollars in debt. Let's imagine for a moment that we were actually a responsible people who cared about the debt that we passed forward to our children...and therefor cut defense by a trillion dollars...leaving us 2-trillion short of a balanced budget. What would YOU folks ever support cutting, once defense was shredded to it's lowest possible levels?
Please, no answers about us not really being broke, or taxing us even more, or simply printing more money thereby devaluing the USD even further. What would/could you CUT so that we have a TRUE balanced budget?
Many thanks for sincere replies.
Regards,
Ryan
