It is obvious that the Sentator from Texas is a self-serving, fanatical egomaniac, but there seems to be something else lurking in his personality -- an attribute which could be a weakness.
Frequently, Senator Cruz jumps to some action which doesn't make rational sense. His agenda currently seems to have no chance of implementation, and his efforts to force the issue only make things worse for his party. He seems as content at blowing up fellow Republicans as Democrats. He revels in criticism equally with praise. What gives? Is he just witless? Probably not. Is he functioning without a full deck? Well, it doesn't seem so. There is one analysis which makes sense.
Cruz may be an action junkie. Consider. . .
He is constantly stirring the pot, working for a boil over.
He doesn't seem to care how his adventures come out as long as they are exciting.
He doesn't even draw a breath between one demented objective and another.
Action junkies are trouble wherever they wind up, and unfortunately this one is in the U. S. Senate. His time would be better spent at a football game (where he would probably scream criticism at both teams), but we are stuck with him for a while.
Latent in this personality profile is a critical weakness. People like Cruz are morbidly afraid of boredom. To Cruz, being ignored is far worse than being hated. Almost as bad is being laughed at.
So far we have been playing his game. Perhaps it is time for another strategy.
Nothing could hurt this man more than for us to laugh at him and then turn and walk away in silence.
