This is my second diary entry on this site, and I actually really enjoyed the first banter about spending cuts. My question to the population is this: Would Term Limits be something that all left, right and center leaning people could ever unify their thoughts around? I think we all can agree that career politicians almost always vote in correspondence with their donors' agendas, be they unions or corporations. Wouldn't having term limits make those special interests lose some power, because their 'puppets' of whom their lobbyists have purchased would therefore not be staying in office indefinitely?
To me, this seems like a positive move for all of the American people on both sides of the aisle - and also interject new blood and new ideas into Washington more frequently. Sure, I know we could "create our own term limits" by voting people out...but I think we can agree that in the current environment, the incumbents have very large war chests because of the special interest dollars - and for some reason, American's always say...it's not my guy who is the problem. Thoughts?
