According to a story in the October 17th Portland Oregonian, (http://www.oregonlive.com/...) the Oregon Health Authority announced that in the first two weeks of October, more than 56,000 people signed up for health insurance through the state's health plan exchange. This cut the state's uninsured by more than 10%. In two weeks. Oregon was one of the early adopters of the Affordable Care Act, created a fully functional state exchange, and boasts a wide range of plan offerings. I don't know if anyone is keeping track (well, of course someone is, somewhere), but it will be quite an accomplishment for the state that first provides health insurance to every citizen. I'll chill a bottle of champagne for the occasion - and just in case the Republicans decide to once again light their hair on fire and throw themselves into the Potomac over the ACA. Maybe someone should let them know that you throw in the TEA, not each other? Nah, why spoil the fun.
