Weight loss, fitness, and maintenance can seem like lonely things to do. In fact, it does require a lot of self-motivation to get it started and keep things going. But in the end, getting community support helps. I remember reading about at least one study that showed that if people witness others working out, they're more likely to do so themselves.
I never felt bad about having others watch me work out, but I've heard other people saying they'd be "embarrassed." I figure it's better to see me working out than sitting down regaining weight.
So other than Daily Kos Weight Loss, the best on-line community support for weight loss, at least here at DK ;) what resources and tools do you use to keep on track? I have two I'll share over the dieting pumpkin squiggle today.

How many times would you have to lift a cockatiel to get any weight loss benefit?
Daily Kos Weight Loss is a community at Daily Kos dedicated to weight loss, maintenance, and support. As with all communities, trolls are calorie-free and will be munched should they engage with us. Please feel free to jump, jog, skip, dive, or walk in.
I started doing on-line tracking of my food intake back around May or June of this year on a site called weightlossbuddy.com to make sure my calorie counting was right. I'd been doing guesstimates up to then, which worked okay some of the time, but I discovered I was doing math wrong and overestimating how much I was eating. That bothered me, so I used the site to keep track and make sure I was actually doing what I thought I was doing. The food tracking was pretty good and the entries are fairly customizable.
The exercise tracking, however, doesn't keep up with me. Believe it or not, I do incredible amounts of exercise, and the exercise tracker there doesn't get even close to everything I do, from walking to standing to weightlifting to even sitting at the computer with my ankle weights on (5 pounds on each leg). So I started using the USDA SuperTracker site mostly for my exercise. It's pretty good at the exercise part, but it's very bad at the food entries, especially if you have food difficulties. Just try looking up gluten-free foods and you'll see what I mean.
So what resources do you use to stay in shape other than round? Were any of your resources shut down due to Republican intransigence, like SuperTracker was?
Sigh...scale up to 140 two days in a row now, after a couple of weeks in the 130s. I blame the House Republicans.
