Good Morning all y'all.. Welcome to KosKraft, Issue 23.
This Group is for all those creative kossack artisans, plying away at their benches. If you make things, please join, and maybe give us a look at your work.
After Donald Trump's wig.
So...Today is Stitchers and Moods
Motivation:
What keeps me going after all these years, and little reward. Well, I used to think that I just gained more
patience. Now in my old age, I realize that I just don't give a shit anymore.
When you work pretty much alone all day, motivation is a big factor. Whether you're working online for your Company from home, or you're pulling things out of the ether and reproducing them by hand, some days, you just don't see any reason to do anything. Sometimes I just hop on the old bike, and roar out of the yard, hitting 90mph in no time, just to get the blood flowing again. Yeh, stoopid, I know, but remember the third sentence from above! Sometimes, I just can't get excited no matter what. I can put things off for days. But then I get a real case of the guilts, and that's worse than lack of motivation. And if the guilts carry on into my dreams, well...then it's time to reverse the engines, quickly.
Artistic temperament:
If you aren't required to be artistically creative in your everyday life, it's very hard for you to understand the whys and wherefores of artistic temperment. Why did Van Gogh lop his ear off. Why did all them rock stars flame out too early ( Just be glad you don't have a "J" in your name..Jimi, Janice, Jim...). Where the hell did Salvador Dali come from? Why do I have a big box of rejected pieces. Some are just misfires, some just don't pass whatever stringent requirement I want that day. Half the stuff could probably be used by someone, very happily, but Nooo..I have to have standards...sheesh. But then there are those days I can pull something completely out of my a#@, and even amaze myself.
Appreciation:
I'm sort of lucky, I get emails from a lot of customers. Some, have a problem with what I made, size, tightness, etc., and I remedy it as fast as I can, even when it's their perceptions that are wrong, and not mine. Companies usually don't try and satisfy so much, nowadays. But then there are the many emails I get that rave about their pieces. I don't take compliments very well, but inside, I sure do appreciate them. It means, even for something small, I got it right. And we all want to feel that once in awhile.
Well, that's all for now.
All Kossack Artisans are welcome to join the group, just send me a PM.
In the meantime, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the
KosKatalog. They do yeoman's work in there, and it's about as business close to supporting "local" as you can get on the inter tubes.
Another crafty place to hang around...
