Guess what day it is? Hump Day!

Tonight's guests are Charles Krauthammer on TDS and Gwen Ifill & Judy Woodruff on Colbert.

Krauthammer  really needs no introduction to folks around here.  I did manage to find something he said that I can agree with

I wouldn’t want to use a word that defines a people — living or dead, offended or not — in a most demeaning way. It’s a question not of who or how many had their feelings hurt, but of whether you want to associate yourself with a word that, for whatever historical reason having nothing to do with you, carries inherently derogatory connotations.
Of course the rest of the piece is full of "You're not the boss of me" like
I don’t like being lectured by sportscasters about ethnic sensitivity. Or advised by the president of the United States about changing team names. Or blackmailed by tribal leaders playing the race card.
From his article Redskins and reason
I assume the interview will be similar, as Shakespeare wrote
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
I guess he is hawking a book: Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics
Readers will find here not only the country’s leading conservative thinker offering a passionate defense of limited government, but also a highly independent mind whose views—on feminism, evolution and the death penalty, for example—defy ideological convention. Things That Matter also features several of Krauthammer’s major path-breaking essays—on bioethics, on Jewish destiny and on America’s role as the world’s superpower—that have profoundly influenced the nation’s thoughts and policies. And finally, the collection presents a trove of always penetrating, often bemused reflections on everything from border collies to Halley’s Comet, from Woody Allen to Winston Churchill, from the punishing pleasures of speed chess to the elegance of the perfectly thrown outfield assist.
Not on my reading list but we can always hope it is a good interview, right?
For alternate entertainment, how about a Russian band that sounds like they jumped right out of the 80's. Tesla Boy performing a song that is catchy as hell, Spirit of the Night

If you like the song you can get it 100% free and 100% legally from Wired who explains the bands name

But what influenced the band’s name? Turns out it was Sevidov’s former apartment: He used to live in a Stalin-esque building in a first-floor unit that sat on top of a transformer vault. The name arose after a friend joked to Sevidov that the energy coming out of the transformers shaped his music and encouraged the musician to read up on Nikola Tesla.
Colbert has Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff, co-anchors of PBS NewsHour.
Los Angeles, Calif. -- Aug. 6, 2013 -- Today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, it was announced that Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff will be co-anchors and managing editors for the PBS NEWSHOUR. Ifill and Woodruff will anchor the broadcast together Monday through Thursday each week. On Fridays, Woodruff will anchor solo as Ifill hosts WASHINGTON WEEK that evening. This will mark the first time a network broadcast has had a female co-anchor team.
I confess I have not watched Newshour in years.  Growing up, I used to watch it with my grandfather.  I credit that with sparking my interest in news and politics and also with my belief that news need not be all about graphics and music, the news itself should be entertaining enough.

Another video, this time a guy from New York going by the name Who Ha whose song Out Running sounds like Duran Duran and Depeche Mode collaborated on the music and gave vocal duties over to Tears For Fears. You can buy the song for whatever price you want (including $0) at his Bandcamp page.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
