I have to say, sometimes you catch the tiger by the tail! I'm ecstatic with the level of interest and support in both of our meetups scheduled over the next two weeks, and I wanted to give a little update on why - if you can make it - you want to come to Columbia, Missouri on November 9!
First, I want to give a lot of credit to Man Oh Man, a fellow Kossack who has really put in a lot of effort for us to supply some interesting experiences in the Columbia, Missouri meeting. His efforts on this, especially while I've been distracted with the KC Meetup (November 16) have helped provide an incredible amount of polish to a meeting I think will be quite exceptional.
Fo those that do not know - November 9 (THIS SATURDAY) 7PM-10PM (or longer we're all game) we're gathering at the Trey Bistro in Columbia Missouri.
Trey Bistro
21 N 9th Street, Columbia, Mo. 65201
7PM-10PM (or Beyond!)
Why show up? Just Kossacks getting together and sharing a beer, right?
Well, we're making a real effort to make both of these events must-attend events for politically motivated democrats who want to enter 2014 with the hope of change in these two states.
At the Columbia, Missouri event we will have D. Brekhus in attendance, PhD professor at University of Missouri who will talk with us about the demographic shifts, patterns of sexual politics and the future of democrats at the state and national level in the Show Me State.
We also expect to have several local campus democratic organizations in attendance and we have let campaigns know if they have material or information they want to provide, let us know.
This is a chance not just to meet your fellow Kossacks, but also a chance to meet some of the people and staff who are directly working with campaigns (and in some cases, running for office) and are asking for your support in 2014.
If you are in the Columbia, Missouri area this weekend, you owe it to yourself to make your way to Trey Bistro, drop by, meet some friends. Do you know people who aren't on Kos but are interested in change for Missouri? Make the effort. Encourage them to come out. We promise, no one will bite (unless asked) and a good time will be had by all.
If you plan on attending, please RSVP through KosMail. Let us know, as we are quickly expanding the number of seats we have at Trey Bistro, and I'm giving them updates as we go on our attendance expectations.
If you cannot make it, or for those attending the KC event, November 16
I will have an update on the Kansas City event Thursday night. Let me just say: that event has grown at such an amazing clip it is shocking. Every day I am amazed at the level of interest and growth that event is having. If you are in the KC Metro or Kansas and Northwest Missouri, you owe it to yourself to be there.
We'll post that info tomorrow.
Put faces to userIDs. Meet and work to elect more & better democrats. If you're interested in either of these things, or if you're a poor schlub who needs food - make time to attend :)
