After enduring a long summer and being gifted the lovely End of Hot, we are now entering a true Fall in Central Texas.

Having received enormous rains over the past month (some areas getting as much as 18' in 6 hours) the creeks are full and the late wildflowers have had a successful post-season blossom.

Not long ago my kids and I went exploring as we often do when the weather is fine. Eager to try out the camera on a new iPhone, we headed into the greenbelt areas of SW Austin in search of beauty.

In the greenbelts we found:

Upon leaving the greenbelt we discovered where our local coyote pack hangs out. Scat, fur, urine told us this was their turf.
Heading down to the creek to check out the water (and test out my new Lifeproof case underwater) we knew the climbers would be there. My kids were excited. They love to hike, especially where they can practice rock climbing.

More wildflowers thrived in the damp, cool canyon of Barton Creek Greenbelt.

The creek was flowing, welcoming us with sound of stone and water.

The climbers were in action. My boys knew what to do. I wandered off to take more pictures while they practiced on the low walls under the watchful eye of a dozen seasoned climbers.

Turning toward the creek, I knew it was time to test my case. It worked.

We are so blessed to live in a city that cares to protect our common resources.

Winding down this year with water, stone and light is a gift to us all.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
