The "Texas Open Carry"/"Moms Demand Action" has taken a predictably ugly turn with the TOC group engaging in bouts of what could only be described as Internet Road Rage. Both groups have had their chance to engage the media and their followers, but the response to the incident has been telling.
The Moms have taken the "high road", mentioning the article once and then moving on to other topics on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/...
The Texas chapter has posted news stories and so forth about the incident: https://www.facebook.com/...
The "open carry Texas" page (or group) is taking an active combat stance against Moms Demand Action: https://www.facebook.com/...
They create twitter hashtags that include "#thugswithjuggs" and feel that "I guess we are going to treat MDA and like Hemorrhoids and try to ignore them until they flare up again....seems appropriate" is an adequate response to the situation.
And there was this gem, from someone who obviously reads the Constitution in a different way than I do: "You have no constitutional right to feel safe I'm sorry. Safe is a emotion not a right."
...etc.
I'm not sure there's a decent tactic for engaging these people. They seem to have no sense of shame. I hope the Moms will continue to take the high road -- because OpenCarry's low road isn't winning them many fans.
