From TPM:
The total enrollment in private insurance, including the 15 state-run marketplaces, as of Nov. 2: 106,185. Of those, 79,391 came from state websites, and 26,794 came from HealthCare.gov, which serves the others. In addition, nearly 400,000 have enrolled in Medicaid nationwide, according to the administration.
Add it up - 106,185 + 400,000 = 506,185
That's half a million people who have signed up for health insurance, including more than 400,000 who obviously don't have any access to healthcare right now.
That's the number every liberal and progressive should be shouting loudly and often, not the 26,794.
I'll be the first to stipulate that the website rollout was pathetic, and once they get it working (which from all the reports I read won't be long as it's improving daily) there really need to be some heads rolling. But, as I keep trying to explain to my conservative friends and acquaintances, a bad website doesn't say anything about the ACA itself.
IMHO, 400,000 new Medicaid recipients is a massive victory for our side, and that number is going to keep growing.
The other huge victory: Obamacare is here to stay!
I think even the Republicans are realizing that... nobody is going to kick those 506,000 people off their health insurance, and the numbers are just going to continue to grow faster and faster.
Keep the faith, folks. This will work.
Cheers.
